Legacy Gt Vf52 Install Chrome
Ok, I’m getting myself psyched up to do this vf52 install. I tried to search for a turbo install in the “how-to” section but couldn’t find one.
I’m going to PB blaster the bolts tonight. I’ve got new gaskets. I got copper spray to help the gaskets stick. I think all I need now is a torque wrench. I need to take off the tmic, dp, the exhaust manifold, and the up? And it is very important to use the torque wrench on the up. Is all that correct?
Am I missing anything here? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Unless you want to replace the up pipe then you do not need to remove it. You should drain some of the coolant since you'll have coolant lines attached to the turbo. You should check your banjo bolt while your at it, mine was fine tho.
Also prime the turbo by injecting oil into the hole where it attaches the oil line ontop of the turbo housing before attaching the line. Crank the engine a few times, then reinstall the fuse and let it idle for 30+ mins. You'll have to unplug the fuel pump fuse and run out the fuel before you start the project. Don't forget it requires a tune. I self tuned mine. Reinstalling the turbo is tricky. Line up the oil drain pipe at the bottom and guiding on the turbo inlet is a bitch, unbolt the screw to the manifold to increase some clearance and also get some angle pick tools to help seat the tube.
You shouldn't need a socket for the rear o2 sensor, but yes on the front o2 if you plan on installing a new up pipe. No trimming required, just remove the oil line bracket, it just bends open to remove, you'll know what I mean when you come to it.

Which was ridiculously good considering 90k of that was at stage 2, with 30k prior to that at stage 1. Also, either bulletproof.
The turbo is a direct bolt on, very easy install. The heat shield has to be modified if you plan on using it. Just cut a notch out for the WG arm. Remove both pill from the lines, just massage it out of the lines by pinching the line and replace it with one 1mm on the compressor side, unless your tuner will be tuning it with both pills. Just take your time and you'll be fine. Turns out that the screw that i thought was broken.was actually a stud that wouldn't have a head.haha.
I finished most of the install last night. I had a terrible time getting that one tube on the bottom on. Still have to put the intercooler back on. Couple of very important questions. Does the t connector have clamps on all 3 of the hoses(the one with the pills in it)? I found a copper looking washer type circular thing under the car afterwards.
