Let me start with the pro's.this device is so handy that it will be hard to live without its function.BUT.my first example of this unit began lighting up when unsupervised and, since it was a certified reconditioned item, it's warranty had expired at 3 months and the faulting (naturally) began at 4 months. I added a manual shutoff to keep power from the unit when I wasn't using it. Then I found a deal on a new unit (with a full warranty), I purchased a new fryer, thinking that I was escaping a lemon appliance. Last evening, after preparing a batch of waffle fries, I joined company in our dining room and enjoyed dinner for about 30 minutes. At that point, my smoke alarms began shrieking throughout the house and I rushed back to the kitchen to find the fryer in flames. Black smoke was pouring from the top of the unit, the housing was melting, and the house was fast filling with smoke. I used my fire extinguisher to extinguish the flames which were licking at my nearby cabinets.

This time, after only 6 months of ownership, my warranty is in force. Whether I dare get a replacement is very open to question. I bought this fabulous product for my husband and I for Christmas. We had the day on our own this year, so had spring rolls, baby sausage rolls etc all from frozen, they were fabulous. Also did kumara wedges, sprayed with olive oil, S&P, and they were crisp on outer and soft on inside. Next day I did pork and veal meat balls and the result was so good. We have done most of our cooking on manual, easy to clean, not much cooking smell and has been on the kitchen counter since we unpacked it, the food really is tastier.

Tonight for New Years Eve we are trying prawns. The rack is a good idea for meatballs and I have already ordered 2 more accessories from Philips. I highly recommend this product. My oven will not be used again. My husband was cooking within minutes and is still interested. All I can say is Thanks Philips, Lamerooliz. Just like the overwhelming amount of negative reviews on this product say, mine has completely died just after 2 years.
